Beer is good for health

The full-flavored beer has a bad reputation and make belly fat. But Italian researchers found that a daily serving of beer may lower your risk of cardiovascular disease. This study joins others that state that moderate consumption of alcohol is linked to improved bone density and better cognitive health. Like red wine, beer contains antioxidant compounds called flavonoids.
Most varieties contain 150 calories per 12 ounces, so that moderate consumption of beer should not lead to extra pounds.

The efforts against malaria can be seriously compromised

A group of scientists expressed concern that malaria is mutating in ways that make the disease may be intractable.
New data collected by the study, which was funded by the Wellcome Trust and National Institutes of Health, suggest that appeared forms of the parasite responsible for malaria that are resistant to drugs.
These forms are located on the border between Thailand and Burma, 800 miles of the places in Cambodia where they were detected for the first time three years ago.
In the medical journal The Lancet, researchers say that if these parasites are found in other areas of the world, it may be impossible to eliminate malaria.
Each year about 650,000 people each year, many of them children and pregnant women.

In one study, 90 percent of fearful patients reported more comfort and less fear with the use of sedation. Dr. Robin Bethell, a specialist in the office, found great success in their patients.
“The dental phobia is the greatest obstacle to the patient about oral health,” he said. “The oral sedation offers patients a way to combat fear and anxiety when undergoing dental procedures, and can make the difference between worrying and stressful dental experience and a dental visit comfortable and enjoyable.”
Sedation can be done as simply as nitrous oxide (commonly known as laughing gas) or sedation or oral sedation pill, or using a technique called IV sedation, which leaves the patient fully conscious but deeply relaxed and without worrying about the appointment. Sedation can be used even for simple activities such as basic cleaning, so do not be afraid to ask! Read the rest of this entry »
